You guys are awesome! I had several GREAT responses to my previous post. It's a beautiful thing to hear so many young women feeling confident about their bodies for better and for worse. Perfect is definitely overrated, not to mention boring.
Today was another rework-the-maxi day. I recently saw (in Lucky I think) the idea of layering a slouchy tee over a maxi. I love the combination of the orange and black and white stripes, but this shirt was way too long for my proportions (it is this shirt). It left me drowning. So, 2 safety pins and 3 strips of fashion tape later, I had this.

It's drapey, it's slouchy, it's properly proportioned. (Try saying that 5 times fast.) And best of all, it's using what I already have.
I added to the layers even more by adding a slew of jewelry. Turqoiuse earrings hand made by yours truly, 2 wooden cuffs (craft store, $1 each) and a bold trinkity necklace (Charlotte Russe, $8) were the perfect finishing touches.
Stay tuned this week. I'm going to put together a post with all of the ways I've worn my maxi dresses this summer. I've never repeated the same look twice!
So every time I am reading lucky and see the new trend (slouchy pants with half shirt or maxi dress with drapey layers) I think no human can wear this and look normal...then I come on your blog and you knock it out of the part. Keep proving me wrong sista girl. LOL!
