beauty: the perfect line

liner 1 liner 2 liner 3

When I took the plunge and committed myself to the bob, I had a brief make-up identity crisis.  Between the fringe and the frames, I needed to find a special new (to me) way to apply eye make-up that would allow my eyes to pop, regardless of the distractions.  After years of loving it on everyone else, I finally decided to try my own hand at liquid liner and a classic cat eye.

Since my eyes are pretty deep set and hooded, I've always shied away from anything too heavy.  But once I started lining just my top lid with the liquid liner, I was hooked!  I especially love that I can throw it on in about 10 seconds and can go pretty natural on the rest of my face (not that I wear they much make-up to begin with).

Of course my new addiction led to a new mission: find the perfect liquid liner.  While I haven't tried them all, I have tried 3.  The ELF liner was perfect for the initial experiment.  I was able to try the trend for a whole $1.  You get what you pay for, though.  It was rather sloppy to work with.  The brush was difficult to control and the consistency was far to wet and paint-like.  So, I went looking for a felt-tip liner.  The CoverGirl Line Exact was a pretty good go.  It's like a paint pen, complete with the little ball inside the pen to keep the liquid running smoothly.  While I loved the felt applicator, just like the ELF, the consistency was too wet and easily smudged during application.

A couple of week ago, I finally found the perfect fit.  Once again seduced by magazine advertisements, I set out in search of Maybelline's Master Precise.  Love it.  It's very marker-like.  It has the pointy felt tip I loved with the CG, but with a formula that goes on smooth and dries quickly.  I only wish it came in black brown, too!

Are you a cat eye lover?  What's your favorite liquid liner?

  6. I hate to say it but my fave is Kat Von D's tattoo liner. It's basically an eyeliner market so I have great control and can do thick and thin lines easily and it dries quickly with no smudging!

  8. This look looks great on you. A while back, I bought a similar eye product from Physician's Formula - it looks just like the one you have from Maybelline and dries quick to boot without smudging. It comes in both black and a dark brown! :) http://www.drugstore.com/physicians-formula-eye-definer-felt-tip-eye-marker-dark-brown-2432/qxp198534?catid=183537

  9. Jordana Fabuliner. It is only $1.99, but it has staying power and doesn't smudge! It is marker like with a pointer felt tip, like the Maybelline. Most drugstores should have it, Walgreens, CVS, etc. On me it even seems to stay after a good workout.

  11. I never noticed you had hooded eyes before! I love love love seeing what other girls with deep-set eyes do with eyeliner. I always end up throwing it across the room in disgust, but after reading this I'm tempted to give it another shot -- yours looks great.

  12. First, I am loving the hair! I need to grow mine out so I can have that look. Second, I use CG Line Exact and am pretty happy with it, but I think it is a little wet. I bought the 'Smoke' thinking it would be gray, but it's really a slate-y teal, which is nice. For my black and brown-black, I use Maybelline Line Stiletto and am pretty happy with it.
