SWINGER

I'm kind of in love with my outfit today. It came to be last night when I got lost in the black hole that is my closet for about an hour or so before bed. I wanted to be in bed by 11, so I could get my day started early. Yeah ... that didn't happen. Do you ever get caught in the closet vortex?

Anyway, it was totally worth it.

I knew when I saw this belt ($1) at Goodwill last week that it was a major score. This is the second time I've worn it in a week. It's not constricting in the least and adds the perfect amount of interest to an outfit. Seriously, it makes my heart flutter a little.

There was just one small problem...

...it was a little big.

Luckily, I inherited about a million snaps from my grandmother (she was a fellow fashionista and seamstress extraordinaire), so I just added a snap to tighten it up a bit. Today I decided that it wasn't quite small enough, so I added another snap. Now, it's adjustable.

This is also the third time (?) I think that I've worn these pants in the last 2 weeks. I. Love. Them. They are the ugly ducklings of mom pants. Picked them up for $7 at TJMaxx, then shortened the legs and added elastic. I would have paid actual money for them in a store. With the volume of the pants and the waist cinching awesomeness of the belt, I rounded out the look with a simple gray tank (Target, $6). Oh, but the accessories made it magical - Charlotte Russe elephant trinket necklace ($8) with an added multi-strand gold chain ($4), wooden cuffs (craft store, $1 each) and gold t-straps (Kenneth Cole Reaction, $40ish?, 6pm.com).

There's some really cool stuff in store for the coming weeks, so stay tuned. And tomorrow I'll be sure to deliver the maxi dress round up I promised earlier.

  1. I do love that belt- it's cool because it not leather, making it super casual, and not sticky on hot days.

    Very cool!

  3. awesome DIY. i just bought my first statement belt ever and it's elastic with a non-adjustable corset front, and it does.not.fit.
should i cut it and add snaps in the back??\and yes, i totally get caught in the garment rack (old house= no real closets) vortex upon occasion.
